The tittle of the film is "The Talented Mr. Ripley".The director of the film is Anthony Minghella.The actors participating in it has Matt Damon,Gwyneth Paltrow,Jude Law,Cate Blanchett,Philip Seymour Hofffman,Jack Davenport and so on.The film company is Mirage Enterprises.The duration of the film is about 140 minutes.The genre of the film is a crime and thriller film.

This introduction of the film is in the 1950's New York,Tom Ripley(Matt Damon) has been sent to Italy by Hebert Greenleaf (Dickie's father) to persuade his son,Dickie(Jude Law) to return to the United States.At Italy,he had engaged in a trigonometry relation between Dickie and Marge Sherwood(Gwyneth Paltrow).Besides,Tom Ripley showed his talent in telling lies without discovery of other people and continuos killing three people without leaving any clue or evidence.

 The main character of this film is Tom Ripley.He is a intellengence and talented man.He have shown his characteristics well in the film.Although he is a intelligence man,but I don't think he is a sympathetic person,but a lucky man.In the film,there was a scene in the pub,Tom and his friends sang the Italian song,Tu Vuo Fa L'Americano,they sang very well.This was the part that I liked in the film.

The plot of the film is Tom killed Dickie at first.After that,Dickie's family and inspector wanted to find the reason of his death.Curiosity got the better of them,they decided to investigate.Therefore,Tom pretended himself as Dickie,wore Dickie's rings,copied Dickie's signature,and even used Dickie's name to do everything he wish.One day,Dickie's best friend,Freddie Miles(Philip Seymour Hoffman) guess that perhaps Tom killed Dickie,so he wanted to ask Tom.But when Freddie entered the room,Tom killed Freddie because he didn't want other people knew the truth of Dickie's death.Wha's more,Tom also killed Peter Smith(Jack Davenport) as he also knew the truth.
 
The film was quite easy to follow as he planned everything step by step,for example how touse his intelligence to hide the evidence.In my opinion,I think that this film also have enough twist and turns to keep me interested,for example he dressed up as Dickie and used his name(Tom Ripley) at the same time without discovery of other people.

Lastly,I'm quite enjoying the film as there were some good points and even bad points too.The bad point is this film was always keep on telling lies.But I would recommended to other readers.I'll gives the rates of this film is 3 stars,1 star is for their acting,1 star is the soundstrack and last star is for the story.

This film is a Thriller, Crime and Mystery.  I think this film tells us that too much lies make people sad and lonely.  In case of Mr Repley, one lie makes many crimes. And I think it makes himself lonely.

Characters

Matt Damon stars as talented Tom Repley who is sent to Italy to persuade Dickie Greenleaf to return to the United States by his father Herbert Greenleaf.  Dickie is rich and spoiled playboy, who lives luxuriously in Italy with his father's money.  Marge is his girlfriend. 

 
The Plot

Mr Repley was poor and bored with his life, so when Harbert Greenleaf asked him to go to Italy and persuade his son to return to the United states, he accepted the offer willingly.  But, gradually, Mr Repley likes Dickie's life and wants his money and stuff.  What's more, Repley kills Dickie. After that, Repley gets money, he becomes rich, but, he has to pretend Dickie, tell many lies, cheat and murder again...     

 
General review and rating

I enjoyed this film.  First of all, the scenery of Italy fascinates me.  It is very beautiful.  It reminds me of the film called ''UNDER THE TUSCAN SUN''.  Because, the scenery of that film also attracted my mind.  And the second, Mr Repley is extremely talented, so I couldn't take my eyes off him.  His act is always bad.  But he always thinks out clever way to overcome problems.  And he escapes from the problems cleverly and luckily.  The third, it's very interesting to see that Mr Repley has been changing gradually.  Initially, hewas unrefined, wearing unstylish pair of glasses and strange colour swimsuits, etc.  But he became elegant and polished man little by little.  That was also interesting to me.  I would like to recommend this film to my readers.

The Talented Mr Ripley is a psychological movie, where a man try to get a better life by lies. This movie is about a man (Tom Ripley) which he has been sent to Italy by Herbert Greenleaf to persuade his son, Dickie, to come back to The United States, Tom’s seemed this opportunity to change his boring life.

However, Dickie is spending his life in pubs, travels, etc, what’s more he has a long-time relationship with Marge, a girl from USA wich is really falling in love with Dickie. Tom tries to get in to the Dickie’s life, but he can’t stay for long time there, while he’s spending days in Italy with Dickie, he starts to want that kind of life and dickie’s money, so he will do everything to get what he wants.

The movie try to show a man and his habilities to tell lies to everybody and with lucky to scape of every complicated situation. The main characters are, Tom, Marge and Dickie. Tom who is tired of his life and try to change it doing everything to get it, Marge who is falling in love with Dickie and wants to get married him and Dickie who is spending his life enjoying himself. All of them are important in this story.

Although I don’t like this kind of movie, I enjoyed it, the Tom’s luck and how he can solve any problem that appear, I recommend this movie to people that like psychological films, where could be happen in real life, you will follow the story because something happen in every moment.

This story is about the man who wished to escape his poor life. Fortunately, Mr Ripley got a chance by accident. The story starts as he has taken the duty to go to Italy to persuade his friend to come back home. However, Ripley's journey changes his life to the way he has never expected.

We could say this movie borders on a Thriller. But we don't need to guess who committed murder with sweats in our hands. There appear three murders by Ripley in the movie. This movie is more focused on what the characters feel rather than what they do, especially, how the feeling Tom Ripley has is changing, coming to end.

We can't say the plot of this movie is perfect, but we could say that is enough to draw the attention from audience and understand the story. What makes us interested and concentrated is the several parts where Tom has to get out of the troubles with his talent. ; Actually not in a good way, lying, pretending and cheating.

 I think that this movie has succeeded in making us feel for Tom. That may be one thing that the director has paid attention to during making the film. Tom is absolutely not a good guy. However, it is also hard to say he is just a bad guy. We feel sorry for him while we're watching. If he had known how to love and manage his life no matter how difficult and miserable his life
had been, he wouldn't have made himself more miserable, even though he had gotten to have lots of money in the end.

It was my second time to see the movie. At the first time I saw Mr. Ripley, I was bored. It lasted too long (over 2 hours!) and there was no climax on my mind. At that time, I wasn’t attracted to continuous lies. Now I found Tom was really talented.

Even though starting was so small thing just like borrowing a jacket, the results might be huge accidents. The movie starts with Tom’s narrations. “If I could change my life, I wouldn’t have borrowed a jacket”. He had to add his lies to avoid being found former lies. As time goes by, he pretended to be another person, Dickie. At last, he killed his real friend, Peter who knew Tom as “Tom” not “Dickie”. I think Tom Killed himself at the same time.

A psychological point of view, This moive could be important. Tom representes a person who has a weak self-esteem. He didn’t know how to value himself. When Dickie told him “boring”, Dickie killed Tom’s ego. If Tom thought to deserve himself, he wouldn’t get rid of people who ignored him. This movie shows how poor who can’t love himself.

Not only Tom’s never ending lies, but also gorgeous scenery of Italy gives a big interest to audiences. The sexist guy, Jude Law showed his dangerous attractions. Gwyneth didn’t lose her noble character. The smartest actor, Matthew Damon was perfect to express the complicated character, Ripley. You could be regretful if you miss it.
