Relevant Singapore Laws
For international students intending to come to study in Singapore it is important to note that Singapore laws are very strict with harsh punishments for smoking and littering in public places. Below are some of the major offences which maybe relatively minor in your country, but which attract harsh penalties in Singapore.

Student Pass
All international students with Student’s Pass must meet the following requirements

International Students studying in Singapore must achieve a minimum of 90% classroom attendance and sit for all examinations in order for the next renewal.  Students who has failed to attend classes for a continuous period of 7 days or more without any valid reason, the school reserves the right to cancel the Student's Pass and refer the student  to the Immigration & Checkpoints Authority (ICA).

The Student is only permitted to attend the course at the school that the students’ pass is approved.

For more information, please visit Immigrations & Checkpoints Authority (ICA) website. All international students studying in Singapore must have a valid passport and a Student Pass from the ICA (Immigration and Checkpoint Authority).

International student holding a Student Pass is not allowed to work in Singapore regardless of any circumstances unless with a Work Pass Exemption from the MOM (Ministry of Manpower).

All drivers must be in possession of a valid Singapore driving license and the vehicle must be insured. This requirement applies to all citizens and permanent residents of Singapore and also foreigners who are residing in Singapore for more than twelve (12) months. Foreigners who reside here for less than twelve (12) months must possess a valid foreign licence and International Driving Permit (IDP) issued by an authorised body in their country of origin e.g. the Automobile Association (AA). If an International Driving Permit is not available, an official translation of your foreign licence in English is required. Driver from ASEAN member countries only need to possess a valid driving licence issued by the relevant driving licence Authority in order to drive in Singapore without IDP.
