1. Application Procedure and Payment of Application Fee
If you would like to join any of our part time classes please call us at 6338 1378 or email enquiry@ascend.edu.sg
We will arrange for you to come to our centre located near Clarke Quay MRT and take a free placement test to determine if you are suitable for the class.
To reserve a seat in the class, please pay the S$50 application as there are only 15 seats available in the class. Paying the application fee guarantees you a seat in the class.
The Application fee can be paid by Nets, Cash or SGD Cheque made payble to "Ascend Education Centre Pte Ltd".
2. The Private Education Institution-Student Contract & Payment of Course Fee
Ascend Education Centre Pte Ltd only collects course fees once the student has taken their placement test at Ascend and signed The Private Education Institution-Student Contract. The purpose of the contract is to safeguard the students’ rights. Under the Fee Protection Scheme (FPS), Ascend Education Centre Pte Ltd has an insurance arrangement that ensures course fees paid by students to Ascend are insured by HSBC Insurance Pte Ltd. The insurance protection serves to protect the students' course fees in the event Ascend Education Centre Pte Ltd is unable to continue operations due to insolvency, and/or regulatory closure. Furthermore, the FPS protects the student if Ascend Education Centre Pte Ltd fails to pay penalties or return fees to the student arising from judgments made against it by the Singapore courts.
Course Fee payment can be made by Cash, NETS, SGD Crossed Cheque, Cashier’s Order/Bank Draft and made payable to: ‘Ascend Education Centre Pte Ltd’.

4. About the Certificate in Grammar and Writing Course
Purpose of the course
The purpose of the Grammar and Writing Course is to apply grammar rules correctly in various forms of writing.
Syllabus for Intermediate 
About the class
The class will focus on the most important points of grammar at intermediate level such as the perfect verb tenses, adjectives and adverbs, conditionals, and modals. The class will also cover some grammatical vocabulary such as prepositions and phrasal verbs.
The writing portion of the class will focus on the steps of the writing process in various applications, such as reports, emails, and letters. Students will learn to organize the elements of their writing such as topic sentences, supporting details, and signal words. They'll practice skills such as comparing and contrasting, describing, analyzing data, letter and email writing, and summarizing.
Suitable for both working adults and students, Ascend's Grammar and Writing Class will give learners the skills they need to communicate clearly and be successful both in and out of the classroom.
5. Teacher's Profile for Certificate in Grammar and Writing Course
David Doyle,
from Ireland, is the principal of Ascend and a CELTA qualified English teacher.David specialises in teaching IELTS and part time Grammar and Writing courses at Ascend. David believes that learning grammatical rules in isolation is not helpful and what students really need is to practice the applications of the rules they learn through their written work. David ensures students have practice in applying grammatical rules in different genres of writing such as formal letters, CVs, emails, memos and reports.
Davids Grammar and Writing class size is limited to 15 students to ensure that all of his students receive individual attention. Studying in a small class also allows David the time to give comprehensive feedback to his students to ensure they get value for money and most importantly of all to ensure they improve in their Grammar and Writing skills. |
Natalie Visscher,
Natalie Visscher, originally from Ireland, is a Singapore permanent resident and has lived in Singapore for the past 13 years. Prior to that, she lived in Sydney Australia. She graduated as an Audiologist(hearing and hearing therapy) and worked in Ireland, England, Australia and Singapore in this profession. Natalie discovered her passion for teaching whilst working as an Audiology trainer for Siemens Medical Instruments in Singapore.
She recently qualified as a CELTA trainer. She likes to develop a good rapport with her students and strives to deliver a fun, interactive and engaging class. In her spare time Natalie enjoys reading, hiking, cooking and running around after her three active sons. |
